Poughkeepsie Plans to Fight Blight with Grant

Thanks to $800,000 in federal grants, the City of Poughkeepsie is currently planning a number of community improvements for next year. According to city administrator Marc Nelson, the money will be put toward sidewalk repair, maintenance of critical infrastructure, and the demolition of dilapidated buildings within the city. Removal of old and damaged structures will free up property for possible redevelopment, which is always welcome news in a time when competition for real estate is so high!

Nurture Your Artistic Side in October

Looking to get some hands-on experience with artistic crafting, but don't know how to get started? Check out the community art days that happen on the third weekend of each month at Art Centro and PUF Studios in Poughkeepsie! You can learn about pottery and printmaking when the next series of community days happen on October 20 & 21.

This year, the first Friday in May falls on the 4th, while the 5th is on Saturday. Head down to Mural Square on Friday to celebrate both beautiful Poughkeepsie and Mexican culture!
